Jessica L. Rafferty, 38, of Unity Township, daughter of Dennis and Kathy (Sartoris) Rafferty and sister of Erin Rafferty, announced that she is running for one of the two open seats on the Westmoreland County Court of Common Pleas in the upcoming primary election. She will be seeking the Democratic and Republican nominations.
Rafferty is a 1998 graduate of Greater Latrobe Senior High School and went on to earn her B.S. in Business Administration at Bucknell University (magna cum laude) after which she earned her law degree at George Mason University. Before starting law school, Jessica worked at a juvenile detention center and served in the United States Peace Corps.
Rafferty practices in the Greensburg law firm of Quatrini Rafferty and has been elected to the Westmoreland Academy of Trial Lawyers as well as being named to the National Trial Lawyers Top 40 under 40. She focuses her practice primarily in the areas of family law and civil litigation.
Jessica says, “My experiences both in and out of the courtroom have taught me the importance of listening to people. As a Judge, I will give everyone that comes before me an equal opportunity to be heard so that I’m able to fairly uphold our laws.”
Outside of the courtroom, Jessica serves as the Vice President of the Board of Animal Friends of Westmoreland and also volunteers there, working with the animals at the Farm Sanctuary. She is a nine (9) year member of the Latrobe Youth Commission, which is a program for first time juvenile offenders. Jessica is an avid runner who recently qualified for and completed the 2018 Boston Marathon – which was her tenth marathon.
